Beautiful strong long European Broadsword
Era :
18th

19th century
All original with no restoration, just intact all solid & very sound !
Western Europe, probably Germany, ca. 18th to 19th century CE.
A fabulous and massive steel sword with a leather grip over the hilt.
This long-sword has a forged steel blade with a double edge and decorative
incised linear shapes on and above the ricasso.
Two ring grips project outward from the cross guard.
The hilt is covered with a piece of leather
with small ridges
to facilitate a firm grip, the leather is in
good condition & all present with no damage.
The pommel consists of a bulbous tip
that would help balance the heavy blade.
This type of weapon was perfect for stabbing,
& wounds inflicted with even short stabs could be deadly.
