    Description

    1938 Epiphone Model M Lap Steel. 6 String, Short lived (mid ‘37- mid ‘38) 3 - knob version. Original and complete except for 1 white dot that's missing. Has binding deterioration on the neck. Not uncommon for this model. It’s odd, some from this era are perfect, some have this issue. Very clean set of Grover Sta-Tite nickel tuners. I’ve seen these same tuners on period Martins.
    There’s some marking on the back that could be from a stand but other wise this is a good example of an 83 year old steel. Plays and sounds good. I never got much from the third knob. It was supposed to provide a reed type sound. Herb Sunshine designed Trubalance pickup.
    These are my go to for a pre war steel tone.
    Case is in good condition but is missing the strap to hold the lid open. Latches work properly and the handle is in good condition.
