A Very Scarce And Desirable British Revolutionary War Period Scottish Regimental Basket Hilt Broadsword Circa 1760.
29 inch double edged broadsword blade. 1 and 3/16th inches wide at forte. 24 inch long wide single fuller.
Etched on each side is the British crown and shield flanked by addorsed lions. Steel basked hilt of characteristic form well forged and engraved on one of the panels “N 38”. Domed pommel with slash decoration. Oak grip missing leather and wire.
Blade condition is worn but good overall. Basket hilt is patinated with lovely age brown. Oak grip is fine with no cracks.
This is the classic Scottish sword used by British and Highland troops during the American Revolutionary War. 36 inches overall and a must for the British Rev War collector.
