Mesh netting will keep out a wide range of garden insects including cabbage root fly, carrot fly, cabbage white butterfly, pea moth, leek moth, cutworm, onion fly, leaf miners and many species of aphids. 3. Vegetables may be covered all the year round, from planting right up until harvest. If you are growing fruit, just lift the netting during flowering if the crop depends on pollination by bees. 4. Bird netting is Lightweight enough to be placed directly on crops, but also works perfectly over any garden hoops, beds or fruit or vegetable cages, and permeable enough to allow a flow of water to pass through freely 1. Cover plants or seeds immediately after planting or sowing and leave covered until harvest. Build a hoop or a grow tunnel, then place the netting on the frame.
